Creating a nurturing and safe environment is crucial for children, especially those with mental health issues like suicidal or self-harm tendencies. Choosing eco-friendly products can significantly support a healthy atmosphere that promotes emotional well-being.

Our policy and why is important?
Our policy at Anderida to safeguard our children is to use products free from chemicals that can present a potential threat to our young people:
Not allowed to have any kind of bleach product in our homes. If for special circumstances bleach is required, after purchase, needs to be used and take it out of the home immediately.
Use of pesticides on garden plants should be avoided and alternative methods of discouraging unwanted insects and pests researched.
Staff and homes to utilise wash balls as opposed to detergents.
Continue to use eco-friendly cleaning products. Natural essential oils can be added for those who desire a pleasant fragrance.
Children are especially vulnerable to harmful chemicals often found in traditional household products, which can lead to both physical health issues and contribute to mental stress. By substituting these harmful items with eco-friendly alternatives, we can create a safer living space that promotes overall well-being.
Did you know?
Using eco-friendly products can also serve as a catalyst for open conversations about mental health and well-being.

Discussing the choice to utilize sustainable and ethical products allows mentors/parents to engage young people in deeper discussions about feelings, values, and the importance of caring for oneself and the world around them.
“There’s often an underlying psychiatric component of these kids who are just looking to relax or self-medicate with the use of chroming”, said Dr. Anthony Pizon, professor of emergency medicine and chief of the division of medical toxicology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Rates of anxiety, depression and other mood problems have been rising among young people.
Surrounding children with eco-friendly products fosters a healthier home environment and supports their well-being. By choosing natural and sustainable options, we promote health, mindfulness, responsibility, calming spaces, and open communication. These elements are crucial for families and our residential care mentors to address mental health challenges, aiding children's healing and growth.
Let's create homes that protect and empower our children to thrive!
